Literary Context
Psalm 100 is a short hymn that moves from invitation to justification. Earlier lines call “all the earth” to shout, serve, come, and give thanks, presenting worship as a public, communal act (see Psalm 100:1–4). Verse 5 functions as the closing grounds: the people are to praise not merely because worship is expected, but because Yahweh’s enduring qualities make gratitude fitting. The logic is simple: joyful approach and thankful speech rest on who Yahweh is and how he reliably relates to his people over time.
