The final verse connects reverence for God with wise living (v. 10), so vv. 7–8 function as a grounding claim: God’s actions and directives are stable and trustworthy.

Psalm 111 does not name a specific event, so its setting is best understood through Israel’s worship life, where people regularly recited and sang praise that remembered God’s past acts and shaped present conduct. In that world, community life depended on dependable standards for worship, family, trade, and leadership; claims about “truth” and “justice” spoke to public life, not only private feeling. The psalm’s stress on enduring precepts suggests a community wanting stability across generations, using shared songs to reinforce that God’s ways remain consistent even as circumstances change.

Psalm 111:7–8 presents God as consistently reliable in both action and instruction. The “works of his hands” are said to be marked by “truth and justice,” meaning what God does is dependable and fair (explicit claim). In parallel, “all his precepts are sure,” describing God’s directives as stable rather than uncertain (explicit claim). The psalm also stresses durability: these precepts are “established forever and ever” (explicit claim), and they are “done in truth and uprightness,” linking the content of God’s standards with the way they are carried out (explicit claim).
