Literary Context
Psalm 111 is a praise psalm that celebrates God’s deeds and the lasting value of what God has established. The lines around verses 7–8 continue a steady pattern: describing God’s works, then drawing out their quality and impact. Earlier, the psalm highlights memorable deeds and provision (vv. 2–6), and immediately after this unit it emphasizes redemption and God’s name as worthy of reverence (v. 9). The final verse connects reverence for God with wise living (v. 10), so vv. 7–8 function as a grounding claim: God’s actions and directives are stable and trustworthy.
