Unit 1 (v. 2a): Descendants become strong and prominent
The line says the person’s “seed,” meaning descendants, will be “mighty on earth.” The picture is not only personal success but a family line that gains strength and standing within the wider society.
Unit 2 (v. 2b): The upright family line receives favor
The next line broadens from immediate children to “the generation of the upright,” presenting a wider circle (a whole family line or cohort) marked by upright living. That group is said to be “blessed,” describing a positive condition or benefit resting on them.
Unit 3 (v. 3a): A well-provisioned household
The poem then turns to the person’s home life: “Wealth and riches are in his house.” The claim is that the household has substantial resources and stability in its possession and daily life.
Unit 4 (v. 3b): An integrity that outlasts circumstances
Finally, it states, “His righteousness endures forever.” The focus shifts from assets that can rise and fall to a moral quality or reputation that continues. The point is durability: something about this person’s uprightness remains and is not quickly erased.
