Literary Context
Psalm 141 reads like an urgent prayer spoken under threat, mixing requests for protection with a commitment to guarded speech and disciplined life. Earlier parts ask God to hear quickly, compare prayer to an offering, and seek help resisting harmful influences and companions. By the end of the psalm, the speaker contrasts two outcomes: enemies’ schemes collapse on themselves, and the speaker “passes by” the danger. Verse 10 closes the prayer with this final contrast, summarizing the hoped-for ending after the preceding descriptions of traps, threats, and reliance on God’s help.
