Literary Context
These verses sit inside a fast-moving victory scene in Revelation 19. Just before, heaven celebrates, and attention shifts to the conquering rider and his army (19:11–16). Immediately after, the narrative turns to the gathering for battle and the defeat of opposing powers (19:19–21). The bird-summons functions like a public announcement of the battle’s outcome before it is narrated, and it mirrors the earlier “wedding supper” language in the chapter by presenting a contrasting meal: not celebration for guests, but carrion for scavengers.
