2 Peter calls believers to a life that reflects God's character: escaping corruption, practicing self-control, and pursuing godliness. Holiness is both God's gift and the believer's calling, especially in light of the coming day of the Lord.
14as children of obedience, not conforming yourselves according to your former lusts as in your ignorance,
15but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior;
16because it is written, "You shall be holy; for I am holy."
17If you call on him as Father, who without respect of persons judges according to each man`s work, pass the time of your living as strangers here in reverent fear:
1Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
11Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lust, which war against the soul;
12having good behavior among the nations, so in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, they may by your good works, which they see, glorify God in the day of visitation.
1Forasmuch then as Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin;
2that you no longer should live the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3For we have spent enough of our past time living in doing the desire of the Gentiles, and to have walked in lasciviousness, lusts, drunken binges, orgies, carousings, and abominable idolatries.
7But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.
4whereby he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by lust.
6and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness;
7and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.
9the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment to the day of judgment;
11Therefore since all these things are thus to be destroyed, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy living and godliness,
14Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.
10to walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
6As therefore you received Christ Jesus, the Lord, walk in him,
7rooted and built up in him, and established in your faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it in thanksgiving.
12Put on therefore, as God`s elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance;
13bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do.
14Above all these things, walk in love, which is the bond of perfection.
15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body. Be thankful.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God.
17Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God, the Father, through him.
5Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry;
6for which things` sake the wrath of God comes on the sons of disobedience.
7You also once walked in those, when you lived in these things;
8but now you also put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and shameful speaking out of your mouth.
9Don`t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,
10and have put on the new man, that is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator,
5Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time.
6Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
1Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ:
20But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.
23and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.
24Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy,
4For there are certain men who crept in secretly, even they who were of old written of beforehand to this condemnation: ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master, God, and Lord, Jesus Christ.
