Restoration and a Preserved People in the Bible

After judgment, God preserves a remnant and restores His people, turning calamity into renewed inheritance and life under His saving rule.

In context

This theme appears in passages such as Obadiah, where the Bible develops it through story, instruction, warning, and promise. In Obadiah 1:8–9, Yahweh announces a coming “day” when Edom will lose what it trusts most: insight and strength. Wisdom and understanding will be removed from Edom’s hill country, called the mountain of Esau. Then the fighting men—addressed through Teman—will be shaken and demoralized. Obadiah 1:15–16 widens the focus from Edom to “all the nations.” The prophet announces that Yahweh’s “day” is near and that it will operate by a matching principle: what nations have done will come back on them.
