Literary Context
This line comes at the end of a larger announcement in Zechariah 9 describing trouble coming on nearby cities and regions, with fear and collapse spreading as power shifts. Against that backdrop, verse 8 acts like a protective boundary marker: while surrounding places are shaken, God declares a special guard around his own “house.” The verse also prepares for what follows in the chapter, where the focus turns from threats and defenses to a new kind of leadership and peace (the next verses).
