Zephaniah 3:14
A sweeping call to celebrate addresses the community with layered names (“daughter of Zion,” “Israel,” “daughter of Jerusalem”). The commands (sing, shout, rejoice) frame joy as public and total.
Zephaniah 3:15
Multiple reasons for joy are stacked: adverse judgments are removed, the enemy is driven away, and the divine king is said to be present “in your midst,” reshaping the community’s expectation of danger.
Zephaniah 3:16
A future “day” includes an explicit civic message to Jerusalem: fear is forbidden and “hands” are not to droop, implying renewed resolve rather than paralysis.
Zephaniah 3:17
The “in the midst” theme is repeated and paired with strength and protection. The final lines portray delight and celebration over the people, echoing and answering the community’s song in v. 14.
