11:29-30Meaning
A return southward that ends in reversal At a set time, the king tries again to invade the south, but the results do not match his earlier success. Opposition arrives by sea (“ships of Kittim”), and this blocks or pressures him. He leaves distressed and angry, and his anger turns toward the “holy covenant.” On his way back, he gives attention and favor to people who abandon the covenant, suggesting he cultivates allies from within the covenant community.
