Others take the phrase more generally: the baskets are simply positioned in front of the temple as part of the prophetic picture, without requiring that they are a formal offering.
Why the disagreement exists The text itself does not spell out the mechanics. “Yahweh showed me” can describe either a vision or a God-guided perception of a real-world scene, and “set before the temple” can describe either an offering-context placement or a more general “in front of” location.
