How much material is “all these words.” Some read v. 60 (“all these words that are written concerning Babylon”) as referring mainly to the material immediately nearby (especially ch. 51). Others think it points to the whole Babylon collection in chs. 50–51.
How literal the “none shall dwell…forever” language is. Some take it as a straightforward prediction of permanent, total abandonment (people and animals) of “this place” (v. 62). Others read it as prophetic overstatement that stresses complete defeat and long-term ruin, without requiring absolute emptiness in every later period.
Who “they” are in “they shall be weary.” Some connect “they” to the Babylonians who will collapse under the disaster. Others connect it to those carrying out the judgment (or to peoples caught up in the upheaval). The line is brief and its referent is not spelled out.
The passage uses compact phrases (“all these words,” “forever,” “they”) that naturally raise scope questions. It also uses vivid prophetic language that can function either as precise prediction or as intensified speech that highlights certainty and totality.
