Literary Context
Psalm 28 is a prayer in which the speaker calls to God for help and for a fair outcome among competing groups. The request in verse 3 sits within a larger movement: the speaker appeals to God to listen, then asks not to be treated as part of the violent, deceptive crowd, and later contrasts their end with the speaker’s hope. Verse 3 works like a focused description of the people the speaker wants to be separated from: they present friendliness in public but carry harmful plans within.
