Literary Context
Psalm 10 is a complaint that looks around at real-world oppression and asks why God seems distant. Earlier lines describe how the wicked hunt the vulnerable, act with confidence, and talk as if nothing will interrupt them. Verses 12–13 turn from describing the problem to addressing God directly, pressing for visible intervention. The “why” question in v. 13 is not curiosity but a protest that highlights how unchecked wrongdoing encourages further arrogance. The larger movement of the psalm (beyond this unit) will continue to argue that God does see and can act.
