Current coverage includes 1 Peter, 1 Samuel, 2 Peter, 2 Timothy, Hebrews.
2 Peter emphasizes the reliability of the prophetic word and the divine origin of Scripture. Prophecy does not arise from human impulse; God speaks as people are carried along by the Holy Spirit, and Scripture must not be twisted.
10Concerning this salvation, the prophets sought and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
11searching for what or what kind of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, pointed to, when he testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glories that should follow them.
12To whom it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, did they minister these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.
23having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.
24For, "All flesh is like grass, And all of man`s glory like the flower in the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls;
25But the Lord`s word endures forever." This is the word of good news which was preached to you.
6Because it is contained in scripture, "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious: He who believes in him will not be put to shame."
7For you therefore who believe is the honor, but for such as are disobedient, "The stone which the builders rejected, Has become the chief cornerstone,"
8and, "A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense." For they stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.
10For, "He who would love life, And see good days, Let him keep his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
11Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it.
12For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And his ears open to their prayer; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."
11If any man speaks, let it be as it were oracles of God. If any man serves, let it be as of the strength which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
27There came a man of God to Eli, and said to him, Thus says Yahweh, Did I reveal myself to the house of your father, when they were in Egypt [in bondage] to Pharaoh`s house?
28and did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?
29Why kick you at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in [my] habitation, and honor your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel my people?
1The child Samuel ministered to Yahweh before Eli. The word of Yahweh was precious in those days; there was no frequent vision.
11Yahweh said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone who hears it shall tingle.
12In that day I will perform against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from the beginning even to the end.
13For I have told him that I will judge his house forever, for the iniquity which he knew, because his sons did bring a curse on themselves, and he didn`t restrain them.
14Therefore I have sworn to the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli`s house shall not be expiated with sacrifice nor offering forever.
19Samuel grew, and Yahweh was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.
20All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Yahweh.
21Yahweh appeared again in Shiloh; for Yahweh revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of Yahweh.
15Now Yahweh had revealed to Samuel a day before Saul came, saying,
16Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel; and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked on my people, because their cry is come to me.
17When Samuel saw Saul, Yahweh said to him, Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! this same shall have authority over my people.
19We have the more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the day star arises in your hearts:
20knowing this first, that no prophecy of scripture is of private interpretation.
21For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
15Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you;
16as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they do also to the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
2that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior:
14But you remain in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.
15From infancy, you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus.
16Every scripture inspired by God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness,
17that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely to every good work.
2preach the word; be urgent in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.
5For to which of the angels did he say at any time, "You are my Son, Today have I become your father?" and again, "I will be to him a Father, And he will be to me a Son?"
6When he again brings in the firstborn into the world he says, "Let all the angels of God worship him."
7Of the angels he says, "Who makes his angels winds, And his servants a flame a fire."
8but of the Son he says, "Your throne, God, is forever and ever; The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.
9You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; Therefore God, your God, has anointed you With the oil of gladness above your fellows."
10And, "You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands.
11They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.
12As a mantle you will roll them up. And they will be changed. But you are the same. Your years will not fail."
13But of which of the angels has he said at any time, "Sit at my right hand, Until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?"
14Aren`t they all ministering spirits, sent forth to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?
15The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after he has said,
16"This is the covenant that I will make with them: `After those days,` says the Lord, `I will put my laws on their heart, I will also write them on their mind;`" then,
17"I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more."
18Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
26whose voice shook the earth, then, but now he has promised, saying, "Yet once more will I shake not only the earth, but also the heavens."
27This phrase, "Yet once more," signifies the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
5and you have forgotten the exhortation which reasons with you as with sons, "My son, don`t take lightly the chastening of the Lord, Nor faint when you are reproved by him;
6For whom the Lord loves, he chastens, And scourges every son whom he receives."
5Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you."
6So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What will man do to me?"
5For he didn`t subject the world to come, whereof we speak, to angels.
6But one has somewhere testified, saying, "What is man, that you think of him? Or the son of man, that you care for him?
7You made him a little lower than the angels; You crowned him with glory and honor.
8You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that he subjected all things to him, he left nothing that is not subject to him. But now we don`t see all things subjected to him, yet.
7Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice,
8Don`t harden your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,
9Where your fathers tested me by proving me, And saw my works for forty years.
10Therefore I was displeased with that generation, And said, `They always err in their heart, But they didn`t know my ways;`
11As I swore in my wrath, `They will not enter into my rest.`"
8For finding fault with them, he said, "Behold, the days come," says the Lord, "That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;
9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; For they didn`t continue in my covenant, And I disregarded them," says the Lord.
10"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days," says the Lord; "I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be to them a God, And they will be to me a people.
11They will not teach every man his fellow citizen, Every man his brother, saying, `Know the Lord,` For all will know me, From the least of them to the greatest of them.
12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more."
