25:34-35Meaning
Leaders commanded to mourn; no escape The “shepherds” and “leaders of the flock” are ordered to wail and even to throw themselves down in grief, because their “days” have arrived—days marked by slaughter and scattering. Their fall is compared to a valuable vessel shattering: they will not simply be reduced; they will be broken. The next line removes any hope of avoiding it: neither the shepherds nor the leading ones will find a route to flee or a way out.
