50:11-12Meaning
Gloating plunderers and the shaming of “mother” Babylon The passage opens by addressing those who “plunder my heritage,” accusing them of being happy and celebratory about it. Their exuberance is compared to an overfed, unruly farm animal and to warhorses, stressing noisy confidence and appetite. Then the target broadens to Babylon as “your mother,” who will be publicly shamed and reduced to the bottom rank among nations. The land becomes an anti-garden: wilderness, dry ground, and desert.
