The Holy Spirit in the Bible

5and that our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with much assurance. You know what kind of men we showed ourselves to be among you for your sake.

8Therefore he who rejects, doesn`t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

19Don`t quench the Spirit.

23May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24Faithful is he who calls you, who will also do it.

21Now he who establishes us with you in Christ, and anointed us, is God;

22who also sealed us, and gave us the down payment of the Spirit in our hearts.

14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

17Now the Lord is the Spirita and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

18But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

3being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh.

6who also made us sufficient as servants of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit. For the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.

8won`t rather service of the spirit be rather with more glory?

5Now he who made us for this very thing is God, who also gave to us the down payment of the Spirit.

14That good thing which was committed to you, guard through the Holy Spirit which dwells in us.

7For God didn`t give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and discipline.

1You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

22Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

16Every scripture inspired by God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness,

8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth."

19While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, "Behold, three men seek you.

20But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them."

44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

45They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.

46For they heard them speak with other languages, and magnify God. Then Peter answered,

47"Can any man forbid the water, that these who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we should not be baptized,?"

48He commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay some days.

2As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them."

3Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

4So, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus.

6When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.

7When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn`t allow them.

1It happened that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul, having passed through the upper country, came to Ephesus, and found certain disciples.

2He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They said to him, "No, we did not so much as hear whether there is a Holy Spirit."

3He said, "Into what then were you baptized?" They said, "Into John`s baptism."

4Paul said, "John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, on Jesus."

5When they heard this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

6When Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with other languages, and prophesied.

7They were about twelve men in all.

1Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and it sat on each one of them.

4They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

31When they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were gathered together. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

29The Spirit said to Philip, "Go near, and join yourself to this chariot."

13in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation, -- in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

14who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God`s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

18For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

22in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

5which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit;

30Don`t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed to the day of redemption.

3being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling;

18Don`t be drunken with wine, in which is an abandoned life, but be filled with the Spirit,

14that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

2I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

3Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now completed in the flesh?

4Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it is indeed in vain?

5He therefore that supplies the Spirit to you, and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

6Because you are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!"

16But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won`t fulfill the lust of the flesh.

17For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other, that you may not do the things that you desire.

18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

28"It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; And your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.

29And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit.

30I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood, fire, and pillars of smoke.

31The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and terrible day of Yahweh comes.

32It will happen that whoever will call on the name of Yahweh shall be saved; For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be those who escape, As Yahweh has said, And among the remnant, those whom Yahweh calls.

32John testified, saying, "I have seen the Spirit descending like a dove out of heaven, and it remained on him.

33I didn`t recognize him, but he who sent me to baptize in water, he said to me, `On whoever you will see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.`

34I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

16I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with you forever,

17-- the Spirit of truth, whom the world can`t receive; for it doesn`t see him, neither knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.

26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your memory all that I said to you.

26When the Counselor has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will testify about me.

27You will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

7Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I don`t go away, the Counselor won`t come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

8When he has come, he will convict the world in respect to sin, and righteousness, and judgment;

9of sin, because they don`t believe in me;

10of righteousness, because I am going to my Father, and you see me no more;

11of judgment, because the prince of this world has been judged.

12I have yet many things to tell you, but you can`t bear them now.

13However when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak from himself; but whatever things he hears, he will speak. He will declare to you the things that are to come.

14He will glorify me, for he will take from what is mine, and will declare it to you.

15All things whatever the Father has are mine; therefore I said that he takes of mine, and will declare it to you.

21Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."

22When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit!

23Whoever`s sins you forgive, they are forgiven to them. Whoever`s sins you retain, they are retained."

5Jesus answered, "Most assuredly I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he can`t enter into the kingdom of God!

6That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7Don`t marvel that I said to you, `You must be born anew.`

8The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don`t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

23But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers.

24God is a Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

37Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!

38He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."

39But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn`t yet glorified.

29Then the Spirit of Yahweh came on Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.

25The Spirit of Yahweh began to move him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

19The Spirit of Yahweh came mightily on him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and struck thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave the changes [of clothing] to those who declared the riddle. His anger was kindled, and he went up to his father`s house.

10The Spirit of Yahweh came on him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war, and Yahweh delivered Cushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand: and his hand prevailed against Cushan- rishathaim.

34But the Spirit of Yahweh came on Gideon; and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered together after him.

15For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother`s womb.

35The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one which is born from you will be called the Son of God.

41It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary`s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

67His father, Zacharias, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

22and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, on him, and a voice came out of the sky, saying "You are my beloved Son. In you I am well pleased."

1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness

7He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him who overcomes I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of my God.

17The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" He who hears, let him say, "Come!" He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.

1"And to the angel of the assembly in Sardis write: He who has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars says these things: "I know your works, that you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies."
